You can only apply for a B2 visa online. The applicant must complete form DS-160 and pay the visa fee online.
For stays of less than 90 days in the U.S.: You don’t need to obtain a B2 visa, or go to the U.S. embassy. Simply apply for an electronic travel authorization by clicking on ESTA online form.
How long does it take to process a B2 visa?
The minimum processing time for a B2 visa application is several weeks, and can take up to several months. This timeframe depends mainly on the volume of applications to be processed by the American embassy or consulate in the applicant’s country. Other reasons may influence and lengthen processing times, such as :
- If the candidate’s file is not complete or the candidate is late in providing additional information ;
- If the applicant is slow to schedule a visa interview with the U.S. embassy or consulate.
Prepare for your interview at the American Embassy
To finalize the B2 visa process, applicants must undergo an interview with an embassy visa officer. The candidate must prepare for the interview. They will be asked to explain why they wish to visit the United States. All supporting documents will be checked at the appointment.
